Sociology splits the global classes into the core countries such as the USA the semi periferal such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada and the periferal countries the old third world.
My question for you is where does the uk sit in those classes. I think we can rule out periferal as we are definitely not a third world country.
I would propose that we are a core country because although we are a small island, we colonised the world India, Australia. Our military is allegedly the best trained and we exploit our old colony for resources.
However there are those that would propose we are the Usa’s plaything and that if they were not involved ww2 would’ve had a different outcome which could suggest us being semi-periferal.
